When it comes to accessing quality education, particularly standardized test preparation continues to be a significant barrier for students from underserved communities in india. The SAT is a crucial element for admissions to universities in the United States. Preparing for the same often presents a list of challenges for eager children from these areas due to factors like high costs for registration and preparatory materials, lack of awareness about subsidies and minimal presence of resources.
Recent data from the NSSO (National Sample Survey Office) reveals how only 24% of lower-income and rural areas have access to internet resources. Another study found how more than 70% of children studying at government run schools in Odisha did not have access to laptops or smartphones.
These issues call for a need to be addressed, in order to then develop sustainable solutions that allow young students to have equal opportunity at admissions in reputable foreign institutions. In order to actualize the same, TestBridge is a social initiative conceptualized to, as the name suggests, bridge the socio-economic divide and create real-world opportunities related to the SAT for the school-going youth residing in disadvantaged communities.
